Health Coach and Nutritionist
Shelly Hurguy CCN, RN, MSN is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and Certified Nutritionist with a Master's Degree in Nursing
"As a nutritional consultant and coach, I put the power back in YOUR hands."
Shelley Hurguy is a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN), Functional Nutrition/Lifestyle Practitioner (FNLP) and Certified Holistic Health Coach (CHHC). She is also a Registered Nurse with a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern California and has been practicing anesthesia as a CRNA for over 20 years.
The shift in her career began when she started to explore alternative treatments for managing her daughter’s medical condition. She didn’t want to accept that her daughter would be dependent on pharmaceuticals for the rest of her life. THIS is when she first began to understand the power of food!
Shelley studied nutrition and holistic health and at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She went on to earn her Certification as a Clinical Nutritionist which has allowed her to integrate her extensive Western medicine background into her holistic nutrition practice. As she began working with people to improve their overall health through the optimization of their diet, she realized that nutrition was only one of the many foundational pillars necessary to achieve a true state of “wellness”. All aspects of one’s lifestyle need to be addressed, including sleep, hydration, movement, stress management and self-care.
Shelley earned her certification as a Functional Nutrition and Lifestyle Practitioner (FNLP) from the Functional Nutrition Alliance. As a functional nutritionist, Shelley partners with her clients to search for the underlying roots of their symptoms, while developing a personalized dietary and lifestyle modification program based on their unique physiology, state of mind and personal health goals.
Shelley has struggled with health issues of her own and understands what it means to be forced to make changes that are uncomfortable in order to bring the body back into balance. She is committed to meeting her clients where they are and staying by their side as they regain control of their health.
This is Shelley’s passion and she continues to advance her knowledge of dietary and lifestyle management, attending educational forums regularly. She most recently received her certification as an Autoimmune Paleo Coach while studying under Sarah Ballantyne PhD. Shelley values balancing her passion for helping others with maintaining a rich personal life. She enjoys CrossFit workouts and spending time with her husband, three children, two dogs and two cats. Connecting with nature at the beach playing volleyball and on the ski slopes shredding with her kids are two of her favorite mind-body practices.
