Are visits covered by insurance?


Because of the unique type of care we provide, we do not accept any form of insurance including Medical or Medicare. After each visit, we can provide a superbill that you can submit to insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Many members choose to pay for their plans using FSA/HSA dollars.




Are labs covered by insurance?


Most conventional insurance plans do not cover the specialty in-depth tests we offer. We have negotiated discounted rates with lab companies for all of our tests and have found that it is often cheaper to use our negotiated rates rather than trying to bill through insurance. We will discuss the necessity of any test and its cost with you before ordering it.




Can Dr. Emily be my primary care provider?


Although Dr. Emily is a trained family physician, her practice is primarily focused on functional medicine and lifestyle medicine. She will be working with you as a medical consultant and cannot be your primary care provider. We strongly recommend that you have a primary care doctor outside of Sano Health. We are not available for same-day appointments.




What is the office communication policy?


Beyond visits, the primary mode of communication with our care team is messaging. We answer quickly during the week (within 24 - 48 hours). If you have a medical emergency, we recommend that you visit urgent care or an ER.




What is your cancellation policy?


48 hours notice is required for a changed or cancelled appointment with a full refund. A 50% cancellation fee will apply for a missed appointment. Cancellations are only confirmed if you have received electronic confirmation from us via the patient portal.




What is your privacy policy?


We take your privacy seriously. Please review our policy here. We only accept communications through our secure patient portal or phone system in order to protect your health information once you become our patient.




What is your medical records and forms request procedure?


The administrative cost for filling out uncomplicated forms and sending Medical Records to you or your doctor is $50. Please allow up to 10 business days after you have signed the release form to receive your records or forms.
